When the fall semester of 2014 came to an end, Brother Bruce Pitman '71 began a new chapter of his life after serving the University of Idaho for 41 years, most recently as the dean of students and vice provost of student affairs. In honor of his retirement and selfless service, the Idaho State Board of Education renamed UI's Student Union Building The Pitman Center. We welcome this opportunity to reprint a short article about Bruce, which appeared in the spring 2015 edition of The Phi Gamma Delta. We take this opportunity to personally thank those 52 graduate brothers currently on our 2014-15 annual fund honor roll for helping us build the foundation for a thriving graduate relations program. Because of this support, we are able to continue our communications program, host graduate events like the upcoming Homecoming Weekend and keep 1,100+ living Lambda Iota Chapter brothers connected. We are 87 donors away from our goal of 139 for the giving year which ends on Aug. 31, 2015. The more support we have, the more we can do to enhance the graduate experience for all brothers. Can we count you among our 139 donors for the year? Click here to make your gift today!

For eight years, we called him “Governor.” For the past three years, we have called him “President.” And in 2013, we added a title to the resume of Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr.: “Brother.” The son of Allegheny Phi Gam Mitchell E. Daniels, Sr. ’44, Brother Daniels graduated in 1971 from Princeton where student social life is built around eating clubs, not fraternities or sororities. As he explains, “Had I attended a school with Greek fraternities, there is little doubt I’d have been a Fiji four decades ago.” On October 15, 2013, the brothers of Lambda Iota formally initiated President Daniels into Phi Gamma Delta at Purdue. We welcome this esteemed graduate brother and would like to share a few words from him about this experience. Click below to read more.
