Phi Gamma Delta is dedicated to developing men of character within the academic setting, with the aim that they will become fully contributing members of society. However, most outsiders looking in only see the unfortunate crack in the foundation of what fraternities really do and stand for depicted in the news. For those of us, though, who were fortunate enough to become a member of a fraternity, to dedicate ourselves to becoming honorable men dedicated to Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality and Excellence, it is easy to see the honor and the rewards of pledging Fiji.

We asked each of you, “Would you encourage your own son to join our fraternity?” Here’s what many of you had to say:

“Yes, because it was a truly rewarding experience that gives many memories for being involved with friends.”

“Yes, and my daughters, too!”

“Yes. Brotherhood is the best camaraderie there is. It lasts a lifetime.”

“Yes. I believe that the socialization of living in a group and having to compromise and get along are valuable lessons that are not being taught before college.”

“Yes. I had a great time and feel those friendships last forever. Why would I not want him to benefit from that?”

“Yes. It is a place and time to grow and learn how to be a leader. You will learn how to deal with a variety of people and challenges as you create your adult skills at interpersonal relationships. You will learn in real time the value of team work and fellowship that will assist you throughout your life. You will have a lot of fun and meet some young men and women in a supportive environment. You will have support in those times when you are struggling with classes, grades, relationships, etc. There will always be someone to talk to about anything, even though you may not feel so good at the moment.”

“Yes. It set a tone for the rest of my life.”
