Q: Why did you join Lambda Iota in the first place?
A: The conservative philosophy of Phi Gama Delta fit my style. I enjoyed the balance of personalities from scholars, to athletes and campus leaders.
Q: What is your favorite memory from the chapter?
A: The creation and experience of participating in two Fiji Islands.
Q: Which of your brothers do you still keep in touch with?
Brothers from graduating year. Primarily Bob Swinehart ’65, Bob Stephens ’64, Fred Schramm ’64 and Jerry Bean ’64.
Q: Tell us about your career.
A: 1964-1966 United States Navy Civil Engineer Corp Public Works; Sangley Point, Philippines
1966-1970 Construction project manager; Visalia, California—bridges, sewage treatment plant, irrigation structures.
1970-1971 Purdue Krannert Graduate Program
1971-1973 John-Manville Corporation Division Assistant to Construction Product Manager for eight manufacturing plants for six products
1973-Present Senior Vice President of Lyles Diversified, Inc. and President of Lyles United, LLC, with management responsibilities for Agriculture, property development, multi-family rental housing projects and two manufacturing operations, both of which have now been sold.
Q: What have you been up to since graduation (hobbies, family, etc.)?
A: Hobbies: World travel (most recently to Southeast Asia and the British Isles), numismatics, study of Spanish language and photography.
Family: Enjoy my wonderful wife and partner, Nanette, for 34 years. We have eight grandchildren.
Community Service: Zoo board, California Health Science University (Pharmacy school) board trustee, Boy Scout Board for many years and President, Rotary Board and director.
