Q: Why did you join Fiji Purdue in the first place?
A: My best friend from high school, Gordon Teeter, pledged Phi Gam and wanted me to join. The choice was easy because the brothers were the best on campus.
Q: What’s your favorite memory from your time in the chapter?
A: The Fiji Island Party and our pledge class walkout to Ohio State.
Q: Do you still keep in touch with any of your brothers?
A: We all stay in touch with one another and have frequent reunions. Our main contact and organizer is Jeff Cooke ’67 who resides in West Lafayette. We are currently planning our 50th reunion, which is next year.
Q: Tell us about the company you are a CEO/CFO/Chairman/President for.
A: I am the President and CEO of Intralot USA, which is a lottery service and supply company. Intralot USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Intralot SA, a Greek public company. I started Intralot USA in 2001 with one employee. Intralot USA now has close to 700 employees within the United States and has revenues in excess of $100 Million.
Q: How did your time in Fiji Purdue help to prepare you for that role?
The Phi Gam fraternity is the best. Upperclassmen teach the younger brothers how to interact with others, how to get along with one another and about all aspects of life. It’s a great learning experience for a young man. I think I learned as much from being a Phi Gam as I learned in school.
Q: What would you say is your biggest accomplishment?
A: Creating Intralot USA
Q: What advice would you give to future generations of Fiji Purdue members?
A: Purdue is a great technology school. I would advise students to pursue a technology field. While at school, obtain a skill that employers need and want. You can go into any field you desire, but you need a skill that you can fall back on in case of career/job problems.
