Lambda Iota Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta was established in 1902. 

Phi Gamma Delta was founded by John Templeton McCarty, Samuel Beatty Wilson, James Elliott Jr., Ellis Bailey Gregg, Daniel Webster Crofts, and Naaman Fletcher. 

The Phi Gamma Delta flower is the Purple Clematis.

The Phi Gamma Delta  motto is, “Friendship, the sweetest influence.”
