“When I matriculated to Purdue, my parents urged me to join a fraternity if it felt right. They had both been in the Greek System during their college days at Ohio Wesleyan.  My Father and his brother were Phi Delts, and my mother was an Alpha Xi Delta, as had been her mother before her, and my maternal grandfather had been an ATO at Wittenberg. My parents helped me narrow things down by listing what they believed to be the top national fraternities; Phi Gamma Delta was among them.” 

“After visiting at least 8-10 fraternities initially, I just kept returning to the Fiji House because it felt the most comfortable and the most like me,” he says. “Fortunately, I was offered a bid and I accepted.” 

He says that during his time at Purdue, Phi Gamma Delta provided him with the very best of brotherhood. “Phi Gamma Delta was fully supportive, encouraging and helpful in all my endeavors. My friendships forged at Purdue in Phi Gamma Delta are still with me today, and they have been helpful throughout my adult life.” 

He says that it wasn’t just Purdue Fijis who were influential in his life – “The law firm that hired me in Los Angeles did so in large measure because the hiring partner was a Fiji from UCLA,” he says. “Several of my clients were also Fijis, which gave us a strong bond.” 

“My family and I have lived in Seattle since 1983, and there might not be any community in the country where Phi Gamma Delta is stronger than we are in Seattle. This is thanks primarily to the strength of the Sigma Tau chapter at University of Washington. Many of my closest friends here in Seattle are Phi Gams, not just from Sigma Tau, but from Phi Gam chapters throughout the country.”  

He says, “Because Phi Gamma Delta has been such an important and integral part of whatever I have been able to achieve, I feel it incumbent upon me to give back, with both my time and monetarily.” 

Clearly, Phi Gamma Delta is “Not for college days alone;” and “Friendship is the sweetest influence.”
