On September 24th, 2022, the Lambda Iota Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta recognized Dr. Christopher B. Burke with the William A. Martin III Distinguished Fiji Award (DFA). The award was presented by Ben Robinson, Executive Director of the Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation and took place at the chapter house at 640 N. Russell. The day included a Housing Corporation meeting at 1:00pm in the Brotherhood room, the DFA presentation at 3:30pm, and the Homecoming Football game against Florida Atlantic at 7:30pm.
Dr. Burke received the Distinguished Fiji Award due to his incredible involvement in Phi Gamma Delta and success in the civil engineering industry. Brother Burke is the founder and CEO of Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (CBBEL), a consulting engineering and surveying firm with $100 million in annual revenue. He also was elected to the National Academy of Engineering, one of the highest professional distinctions an engineer can achieve. He has served as a professor of engineering practice at the University of Illinois Chicago for over 20 years. In service to the Lambda Iota chapter, Brother Burke has been President of the House Corporation for seven years.
